With the new launch for Trickstar on Monday 3rd December at 7:00am comes a new opportunity to grow the variety and choice of music the station has to offer. Music & Programme Director, Ant Nichols took on the role with one of the main aims to grow the station alongside a firm promise that his team would broaden the music appeal of the station, and to grow a wider range of talent from in and around the city.
As part of the new look team delivering the changes, Ant has appointed Tony Button has Head of Engineering, a new Sales & Development Executive Jamie Plant, and his immediate team consisting of Finn Bowden as Programmes Assistant, Social Media Content Support and a Marketing & Events Co-ordinator. It now means Trickstar will be offering more than just dance music and drum'n'bass as the schedules broaden out with some key brand new shows which include a fresh sound to Saturday afternoons leading the way with Hip Hop, RnB, Neo-Soul & Grime on a show called 'Saturday Sauce' hosted by Hatter & Saffa.
Other shows added to the new look schedule include two key Sunday afternoon shows with two of the biggest music brands in the city; BIMM will be hosting their very own breakout show every Sunday afternoon from midday, with a wide range of fresh new band talent. Local label QM Records will also have a weekly slot showcasing some of the freshest Urban music through Hip Hop and much more. Two slots within the schedule are now Sequence slots where you can hear key local DJ's on rotation with music ranging from House & Techno, though to Trap, Grime, Drum'n'Bass and Garage. There are also increase slots support from of the more experienced DJ's and brands with new slots entitled 'Local Edge' and includes talent from the likes of local Brighton DJ Seamus Haji and locally located House brand Decadance.
Included into the early mornings from 2am are a sequence of shows entitled 'The Globals' which aims to bring some well respected worldwide brands to the schedule. Brands like Toolroom, Ministry and Eats Everything will be part of the sequence which will slot nicely before Early Breakfast. All these plans bring together a wider range of both local and worldwide talent, and offer the city of Brighton & Hove so much more, and takes the total number of slots showcasing fresh new talent to 86 different shows across the week, an increase from before of just over 150%.
